Wilfrid Laurier University - The Post House Student Residence

Location: 41 George Street - Brantford, Ontario
Completion Date: September 1, 2003

Located in downtown Brantford, this location had been under review by Wilfrid Laurier University as a possible location for a Student Residence.

University Staff could not commit themselves to undertaking the task of renovating the structure by using the established method of public tender.

Vicano Construction Limited, decided to undertake the project using the Design Build method of construction.

This building was originally constructed in 1880 with an addition that had taken place in the 1950’s. The task was to upgrade the building and increase it’s square footage by adding a third floor to the 1950’s structure, while trying respect to the design of the original building.

Cianfrone Architects were engaged to prepare the working drawings. Construction started in March of 2003 and completion was set for the start of the University year, September 2003. Both schedule and budget were met. Vicano Construction is proud to have been involved in this complicated and sometimes delicate construction process.
